PAC sets six-month deadline to file ATR

Published on:

Taking serious note of the State Government’s different departments delaying in submitting action taken report (ATR) on its recommendation to various departments, the Public Account Committee (PAC) of Punjab Vidhan Sabha has made it mandatory to submit the report within six months from the date of presentation of report in the House.

The decision came after the committee members observed that different departments were not submitting their action taken report on the recommendation of PAC and its recommendations often remain confined to papers only. It also noted that the corrective, suggested in the report, are not put in practice, resulting in continued loss to the State’s exchequer.

“It is now mandatory for all departments to submit action taken report on the recommendation or observation of committee within six months from the date of presentation of report in the House,” stated the official spokesperson. In case of delay, the concerned administrative secretary could be summed from Committee for explanation. The directions have been issued to all departments to file the report on all PAC reports submitted during last three years with reasons for th delay from the stipulated time.
