Owner blames driver for Audi-taxi Collision

The death of three people, including two students, in a gruesome road accident on Tuesday has not woken up the Chandigarh Police. It is yet to register a case against the owner and the driver of the luxury Audi car.

This is almost becoming a trend. In most of the high profile hit-and-run and rash driving cases, rich persons manage to escape the clutches of law by putting blame either on their drivers or servants. In the accident of Tuesday also, the owner claimed that it was the driver who was on the wheels when the accident took place.

The owner of Q7 Audi car, Rajat Kapoor, who is a Panchkula-based industrialist, told the police that the incident occurred while he was going home with his wife and driver Satpal lost his balance and the car rammed in the taxi coming from opposite side. Talking to The Pioneer, DSP Central Ashish Kapoor said the statements of Rajat and his driver has been recorded and a case against the prime accused will be registered after thorough analyses of the CCTV footage. RP Upadhyaya, IG of Chandigarh Police, said a Special Investigating Team (SIT) has been formed, which includes 2 DSP level officials and two inspector level officers.
