As many as one lakh water taps would be installed in villages falling under 30 subdivisions of Haryana under the ‘Tooti lagao Pani Bachao’ Abhiyan.
This was informed by Development and Panchayats Minister, OP Dhankar while presiding over a meeting with district coordinators of Gramin Vikas Ke liye Tarun (GRAVIT), at Jhajjar on Wednesday.
During the meeting, it was decided that in the first phase, the campaign would be implemented in all villages of 30 sub divisions in June. All four subdivisions of Jhajjar have been included in this campaign.
Dhankar said that with the installation of water tap, each household can save about 10 litres of water. This means that 10 lakh litres of water would be saved in 30 subdivisions on daily basis. In a month, the savings would be of three crore litres which would be a great achievement, said the Minister.
He further said that those panchayats which would install water taps in all houses of their villages would be honoured. On this pattern, volunteers of GRAVIT would also be honoured, he added.
Two days back, Dhankar had held a meeting with engineers of Public Health Engineering on Monday. In the meeting, he had sought information regarding providing adequate water to people.
