Over 24 unexploded shells, rockets found in vacant ludhiana plot

Published on:

Tension gripped ludhiana’s Alamgir village after the recovery of over two dozen ‘unexploded’ shells and rockets in a vacant plot on Monday afternoon. As many as 30 hand grenades were found from Delta colony, located close to historic Alamgir Gurdwara, in Alamgir on Malerkotla-ludhiana road.

The explosives were found while digging the earth. The police have initiated investigation after reaching the spot.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhupinder Singh said that the rocket launchers were in the form of scrap. The entire area had been cordoned off and a bomb disposal squad had been summoned, he said.

ludhiana Deputy Commissioner (DC) has written letter to the Army about the grenades found from near Alamgir.  The police suspected that the weapons have come in the containers with scrap from the bay countries. The furnace owner might have thrown the weapons and explosive in the canal to refrain harassment.
