On Holi, Chandigarh Traffic Police conducted a special drive against drunken driving, overspeeding, riding without helmets, triple riding and other traffic violations and challaned 1,017 violators for various traffic offences.
There were 140 challans for Drunken Driving and 310 vehicles were impounded. This year, 1394 offenders have been booked for drunken driving so far.
Chandigarh Traffic Police had deployed traffic police personnel with video recorders in plain clothes at 20 inner unmanned locations. Around 400 challans will be issued based on the video recording done at 20 points. Drone cameras were also used to monitor movement of traffic and traffic rules violators during this drive.
On Holi, more than 170 cases for suspension of driving license will be recommended by Traffic police.
So far, 1,216 cases for suspension on driving license have been recommended by Traffic police this year.
