Reiterating that the lecturers would not carry out evaluation of answer sheets of Ist and IInd semester examination of Class XII until their demands are met, Haryana School lecturers’ Association (HSlA) has decided to launch another series of their protest campaign against the State Government from Nov 26.
Decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of State-executive of the association held in Government Senior Secondary School in Jhajjar on Sunday. The meeting presided over by State president Dayanand Dalal asserted that the lectures were united over the issue and would not bow down before ‘autocratic’ attitude of the State Government.
later, Dalal while interacting with mediapersons informed that the meeting which lasted over four hours had decided to launch another round of their agitation from November 26 for mounting pressure on the Government.
“The lecturers will remain on mass casual leave across the State on November 26 and 27 to register their protest against anti-teachers’ policy of the Government. Thereafter, the lecturers will sit on dharna at office of District Education Officer (DEO) from 3 to 5 pm on November 28 to 30 in their district concerned,” said the president.
He maintained that the association would organise a State-level rally in front of Siksha Sadan in Panchkula on December 11 if the Government did not fulfil their demands till then. The rally would be attended by over 12,000 lecturers across the State to show their strength, he claimed.
“We shall not let the study of students get hampered owing to our agitation campaign hence the association has decided to carry on teaching work while keeping in view the future of students. That is the reason; the dharna has also been scheduled in afternoon,” said Dalal.
Criticising the relieving order of the lecturers engaged in evaluation work, the president said the State Government was trying to scare them by issuing illogical orders with an intention to get our agitation ended.
To give a befitting reply to the Government, the lecturers would organise protest demonstration at evaluation centers on Monday and would keep them away from evaluation work, he added.
At the meeting, the HSlA office bearers said that Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal was misguiding the lecturers by issuing false statements that most of the demands of the association had already been met.
On the other hand, Bhukkal while interacting with media persons here on Sunday said that carrying out the evaluation of answer sheets was the duty of lectures who should discharge it well in time.
“Agitation being carried out by the HSlA is illogical as their demands have been approved and sent to the Finance Department by the government,” said the Minister, adding that now the agitating lecturers should withdraw their protest.
Notably, lakhs of answer sheets of XII exam have been lying unchecked in various evaluation centres across the state owing to boycott of the evaluation work by the HSlA for last 17 days.
The evaluation work was to be initiated on November 7.
