Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Sunday said that while the State was divided on the basis of caste and region before the present Government came into power, it is now gaining fame as ‘Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek’. This is a big achievement for the State, he said.

The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering during the inaugural function of the Harmony-2015 International Cultural Festival organised by the National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists (NIFAA) in Karnal.

The Chief Minister said that our civilisation and culture hold special recognition on the international level. The moral and social norms inherent in our culture and cultural values keep guiding us, he added. He said that art and cultural programmes infuse new hope and enthusiasm into our lives by giving a break from the routine.

The cultural programmes should highlight the aspect of social service along with art, which would give a good message to the people, especially the youth, said he.

He added that social welfare organisations are working with the Government under its ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, ‘Swachhta’, ‘Har Ghar Hariyali’ and other programmes. Every section of the society should contribute towards these social programmes.

Reiterating the need for expression and presentation of moral values and ideals in the arts, the Chief Minister praised the NIFAA for organising the programme and said that it showcased the culture and art of the entire country in one place. He added that the Panchayats and Rural Development Department has started the process of building a big auditorium hall in Karnal.

The Chief Minister announced grant of Rs five lakh from his Discretionary Fund to the NIFAA, and honoured the artistes by giving away prizes to them.
