While the Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana celebrated “Swachhta Divas” across the State on Monday, the opposition — Congress and INlD hit out at the State Government for its failure to ensure cleanliness in the State.
Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar while lashing out at the BJP-led Haryana Government said that the Government had failed in its Swachhta campaign and the central surveys had showed poor performance of Haryana on cleanliness parameters.
The cleanliness drives are only photo opportunities for the ruling leaders. The State Government has failed on all front and everyone was aware of their intentions behind launching such campaigns, said Tanwar. INlD state chief Ashok Arora also slammed the BJP Government saying that the Government had no intentions to do anything but waste public money. Notably, the central surveys released recently had showed poor cleanliness parameters in Haryana. The Chief Minister’s own city, Karnal had secured 65th rank in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 (Swachh Bharat survey 2017) that was conducted in 434 cities and towns of the country.
Haryana’s Millennium city, Gurugram and industrial hub, Faridabad had also failed to impress in terms of cleanliness and were ranked 112th and 88th respectively in the list. Both Faridabad and Karnal have been included in the Centre’s smart city mission.
Besides, the cleanliness survey released by the Railway Ministry had ranked Ambala cantt railway station at 73rd place in a total of 75 A-1 category railways stations, which are busiest and generates annual passenger revenue of above Rs 50 crore. In the nationwide cleanliness survey of 407 railway stations, Ambala Cantonment railway station, which handles near about 300 trains daily, could achieve the overall rank of 350. Clean toilets at platforms, clean tracks and dustbins at stations were some of the criteria for judging railway stations for cleanliness. Rewari railway station was given an overall rank of 82, Gurgaon was ranked at 102, Hisar at 173, Kalka 229, Karnal 233, Bhiwani 275, Jagadri 284 and Rohtak junction 333.
