Coming down heavily on the SAD-BJP Government in Punjab for high number of vacancies in Government primary schools, the leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly, Charanjit Singh Channi said that the recently announced class 5 and class 8 results are a classic example of the collapse of education system in Punjab in the last 9 years.
lambasting the Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, Channi on Monday said that the Government has made a mockery of the education system in the State and Government’s failure to come up with a concrete education policy had virtually brought the education system to a collapse.
Channi also demanded immediate resignation of the Education Minister Daljeet Singh Cheema on moral grounds.
He said that there were 13032 Primary Schools in the State of Punjab and the total number of vacancies in all the three categories (Centre Head Teacher, Head Teacher and JBT/ETT) in Primary Schools was 13392.
Information gathered by RTI activist and convener of RTI cell PPCC, Jasdeepak Singh clearly shows that there were only 57 per cent Center Head Teachers posts vacant in Punjab, while 68 per cent Head Teachers posts were vacant whereas only 20 per cent JBT/ETT were vacant, said he.
Questioning the sharp downfall in the enrollment of the students in the government schools Channi asked the Chief Minister to tell the people of Punjab why was the number of enrolment in schools in the state was going down year after year.
