Online portal to approve leave for teachers soon

Punjab Government is in the process of establishing an online portal to provide easy, hassle free and transparent services to its employees.

“The portal would be extremely helpful in enabling the teachers to get any kind of leave sanctioned while sitting at home,” said the state Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary on Tuesday.

She said in keeping with Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government’s commitment to ensure corruption-free services to the people, the Education department is developing a software which would enable teachers to apply for any type of leave besides getting other approvals.

The Minister said the Department has set a target of three months to develop the software and make it operational.

After the beginning of this portal, the teachers would not have to make rounds of District Education office or the DPI office, she said. Chaudhary added that there are around 1.25 lakh employees in the education department, the majority of which are women.

“As of now, the teachers have to make endless rounds of the District Education Offices or the head office for getting approval for ex-India leave, maternity leave and childcare leave. But, with the operationalizing of this portal, the teacher would need to upload his or her application on the portal for approval which would be accorded by the competent authority,” she said.
