In view of the escalating traffic congestion in Industrial Area Phase I, the UT Administration has made the route around Elante Mall one-way.
The decision has been taken to avert the traffic snarls around Elante Mall throughout the day. The one-way traffic is now expected to help reduce the traffic chaos in the area, especially during weekends.
The orders issued by the UT Administration stated that in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, the UT Administrator is pleased to restrict the movement of all vehicles around the Elante Mall, Industrial Area by introducing a one-way system for all vehicles in an anti-clockwise manner.
Notably, the UT Traffic Police had conducted a survey of the area and had given recommendations including multi-level parking, deployment of more traffic personnel to reduce the traffic chaos in the area. Elante Mall here in Industrial Area is the largest mall in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh.
