Medicos legal Action Group (MlAG) is organising a one-day CME-cum-Workshop on Clinical Communication skills on November 2. The workshop to be inaugurated by Dr YK Chawla, Director PGI would be held at Dr PN Chuttani Memorial IMA Complex, Sector-35B here from 10 am to 5 pm.

Dr Neeraj Nagpal, Convenor of the Group said doctors are facing a continuous increase in litigation for alleged medical negligence in past two decades. Besides the fact, there are outside forces playing a role in this there are some internal issues for which doctors need to look into themselves.

Improper documentation and lack of communication have been identified as two most important causes of increasing litigation. Dr Nagpal said, “MlAG has been dealing with issues adversely affecting medical profession and has made representations to various ministries, and filed writ petitions on these issues. MlAG through this workshop will try to address the internal issues causing increased medico legal cases.”

The resource persons for the workshop will be Mary Keightley from Mind Associates UK and Dr Vivek Chhabra, who is Emergency Consultant and faculty instructor at Royal College of Surgeons with interest in Clinical Communication skills.

Scientific session will be followed by the workshop and a replay of video recording of the session with comments of resource persons and experts and a discussion. Besides, doctors and medical students have also been invited to attend this workshop.
