Political temperature is all set to boil in Punjab once again months after the State Assembly polls, on the occasion of Rakhar Punia at Baba Bakala on Monday. All major political parties will face each other during their political conferences at the event.
The Congress party would face its first popularity test after forming the Government in the State in March. Opposition parties — Shiromani Akali Dal and Aam Aadmi Party — are also set with their ammunition to target the ruling regime.
Being the main opposition party, AAP is all set to make its conference successful.
Being in the power, the Congress party leaders and workers have aggressively prepared for the conference to make it successful. Other than Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Sunil Jakhar, entire State leadership will be present on the occasion.
In Akali Dal’s conference, former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and SAD president Sukhbir Badal will lead from the front.
For AAP, it will be first conference of party’s State president Bhagwant Mann, leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Sukhpal Khaira in their new roles. Besides them, Dakha MlA and renowned advocate Harvinder Singh Phoolka will also be present along with all the party MlAs.
Congress party would highlight its achievement and works done by the government in five months so far. It would list out the decisions taken in short span of its government to fulfil its promises made to the people of the state before elections.
On the other hand, the Akalis would attack the Congress government on the issues of loan waiver, farmer suicides, jobs and providing mobile phones to the youth.
“Obviously, the complete farm loan waiver would be the main issue as it is the promise on which the Congress managed to come to power. Besides that, our main focus would be on the match fixing between the leaders of both the Congress and SAD,” said a senior AAP leader.
