After approval from the Election Commission, HP has notified pension allowance @ 5 per cent, 10 per cent and 15 per cent to the Government pensioners and family pensioners on attaining the age of 65, 70 and 75 years respectively from April 1.
A Government spokesperson said 5 per cent of basic pension/family pension would be payable to the pensioners between the age of 65 years to less than 70 years, 10 per cent to the pensioners of 70 years to less than 75 years of age and 15 per cent would be payable to the pensioners between the age of 70 years to less than 80 years.
He said that the pension allowance being an allowance shall not form the part of basic pension/family pension for the purpose of grant of dearness relief, meaning thereby, no dearness relief would be admissible on pension allowance. The pension allowance shall not be admissible to the Government pensioners/family pensioners who have attained the age of 80 years and above as they were already getting additional pension on their basic pension and family pension, the spokesman said.
