Not leaving party or forming my own, says Capt

Former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday ruled out the rumours and speculations that he would soon join the saffron brigade or float his own party.“I had headed the State Congress for 16 years and there is no question of leaving the party or forming a new political outfit,” said Capt Amarinder, while talking with the media after his mass contact programme.

Asked about party national chief Sonia Gandhi and party’s vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s response to his demands regarding removal of Bajwa, the Deputy leader of Congress in the lok Sabha said that it is for Sonia Gandhi to take a decision in the matter.“She was out of the country. Now when she is back, I think she will take a decision,” he said refusing to divulge any further details.

Capt also maintained that party’s national general secretary in-charge Shakeel Ahmed had been apprised of the contact programme and there was no issue with him holding his separate show. “There are total 12,700 villages across Punjab. One cannot cover them all. I will do it, he will do his programme, ClP leader and other will also chip in,” he said.
