With the Election Commission issuing notification for Talwandi Sabo and Patiala Assembly by-elections on Saturday, the process of filing of nominations would commence. The Commission has already announced August 21 as the polling date for bye-election to two constituencies.
“The Election Commission of India has already announced the election schedule on July 19. As per the schedule, nominations for bye-elections would start from July 26, and continue till August 2. Scrutiny of nominations would be done on August 4,” said state Chief Electoral Officer VK Singh.
He said that the last date for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed as August 6, and counting would be held on August 25. “The entire election process would be completed before August 30. The polling hours have been fixed from 7 am to 6 pm,” he added. “Model Code of Conduct has already come in force in district of Bathinda and Patiala and shall remain in force till the completion of election process,” he added.
