As reports of shortage of oxygen in liquid form continue to pour in from hospitals across the State, Haryana Government has directed to appoint nodal officers in all districts to keep a track on supply and requirement of medical oxygen in Government and private hospitals.

Apart from this, the government has decided to authorize Deputy Commissioners to appoint doctors and paramedics at their level if required in the wake of surge in Covid-19 cases.

“The nodal officers in districts will have to maintain oxygen supply for a minimum three days in their district and will have to keep track regarding distribution of oxygen in the state.

The nodal officers have to share this information with doctors and managers of private and government hospitals,” said Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Financial Commissioner of Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Haryana on Friday.

Kaushal was presiding over a meeting with the officers of Faridabad district to review the arrangements for COVID-19 patients to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. Faridabad is the second worst affected district in Haryana after Gurugram due to the second wave of COVID.

While directing the district officers regarding providing the adequate supply of oxygen to private or government hospitals in Faridabad district, he said that a nodal officer should be appointed in coordination with the hospitals.

The nodal officer will keep a track of oxygen supply and will inform about the shortage of oxygen in the hospitals. Besides this, they will coordinate with private and government hospitals. In case of oxygen shortage in the hospitals, the doctors can contact deputed nodal officers and get information regarding the oxygen supply, he added.
