No reshuffle in Punjab Cabinet, says Sampla

There may not be any reshuffle of BJP Ministers in the Punjab Cabinet with Assembly elections a little over six months away.

Newly appointed State president Vijay Sampla said that he was not aware of any such move in the party. Tight-lipped on the speculations of reshuffle, Sampla said that he was putting all his energies to strengthen the grass root level worker in the party.

Sampla added that the party needs to put more and more people in the field and he was going to depute all the leaders of the party on the task. He said that all the party leaders holding political posts like chairman in Boards and Corporations would be briefed on public contact programmes.

The speculations of reshuffle are doing the rounds in political circles since the BJP high command replaced Kamal Sharma, appointing Sampla as party president in Punjab. The BJP had reshuffled the portfolios of its Ministers in Punjab in September 2013, but only portfolios were changed and all the ministers were retained in the Cabinet.

Sampla while talking to the media said that he was working to strengthen the party cadre and in the first week of his working, he had detailed some party leaders on some assignments and the 11 day campaign started on Ambedkar Jayanti has been getting warm response at district level.

Talking on his priorities for the party, he said that his priority was to install the State committee first and it would be put in place by May end, as around eight district committees were yet to be formed and as soon as the district committees were formed, the State committee would be constituted. The nomenclature of the state committee would be ‘Margdarshak Mandal’ on the lines of the national set up of the party, Sampla added.

“We will try to include as many people in the Margdarshak Mandal as possible. It is better to take opinion of maximum people on strategic and crucial issues,” he said.

He said that he was taking regular reports on district level and he had already started his tour of the State and was visiting all the districts to have a meeting with the workers. “After completing my State tour, I will start sitting at the party headquarters in Chandigarh on regular basis and positively every Wednesday,” said Sampla.

Sampla said that the Mobile App developed by the Punjab BJP is expected to start functioning soon and party is inviting volunteers on the App. The volunteers would be deputed on different assignments as per their qualifications and capabilities. He said that the mobile app is targeted to get more and more feedback and suggestions for the party and he will himself answer the grievances posted on the app.
