No NOC required for sale, transfer of freehold property

Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) in its meeting on Tuesday decided to allow the sale and transfer of freehold property without seeking the no-objection certificate (NOC). An affidavit has to be submitted for the same from now onwards.

With the CHB’s decision, the city residents will not be required to take NOC from the Chandigarh Housing Board for selling freehold property. Earlier, for sale/registration or transfer of any property, NOC was required.

Recently giving a major relief to freehold property owners, the UT Estate Office had also allowed the transfer of property without seeking the no-objection certificate (NOC).

It may be recalled that in January, the Supreme Court had upheld a decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding quashing the mandatory NOC required for selling or getting a property registered in the city.

In its Board meeting held on Tuesday, the Chandigarh Housing Board also decided to extend the retirement age of employees ie 58 years by six months following the footsteps of Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Corporation limited (CITCO).

Also, it was decided to provide pension to the employees of CHB who had joined after the year 2004. The pension would be provided under Centre’s Contributory pension scheme.

An official of CHB said, “The Board in its meeting decided to allow the sale and transfer of freehold property without seeking the NOC from now onwards. However, an affidavit has to be submitted for the same now.”
