Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday said that there is no need to impose a lockdown in the State.
“The State Government is doing its best to deal with the Covid-19 situation. We are working on a mechanism under which the deadly virus would be contained, and the economy of the state is strengthened,” said the Chief Minister while talking to the mediapersons in Hamirpur.
He said that cooperation of people of the State is the need of the hour to combat Covid-19. People should ensure that they follow all Covid related norms. Vaccination along with wearing face masks, social distancing and washing hands repeatedly are the main weapons to deal with the virus, he said.
On the issue of helping families who have lost family members to COVID-19, Thakur said since the death toll is high, a final decision to this effect would be taken after thorough discussions.
The COVID-19 death toll in Himachal Pradesh had increased 1,177 on Sunday with 10 more fatalities.
Responding to a question related to the ongoing vaccination drive, he said that media personnel would also be vaccinated on a priority basis.
When asked about his visit to Samirpur to meet former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, he said that it was a courtesy call. Dhumal is a senior leader and his suggestions are vital for running the government, he added.
Replying to a question related to bypolls in the state, the Chief Minister said the BJP is united and would win the Mandi Lok Sabha and Fatehpur Assembly bypoll with ease as the people are happy with the performance of the BJP-led governments both at the Centre and in the state.
He also said that the government is keeping a watch on the drought situation and it would be ensured that there is no water crisis in any part of the state and adequate supply of water would be made available to the people.
