Punjab Government has partially amended instructions for giving extension to its employees up to the age of 60, but with a rider. Any employee facing departmental inquiry or criminal case or vigilance case would not be eligible for the extension.
The decision was taken with the sole aim to provide corruption-free and transparent administration, stated an official spokesperson of the Finance Department (Personnel II branch).
The directions in this regard have been issued to the Administrative Secretaries of all the departments to prepare the list of all such employees who are facing departmental inquiry or criminal case or vigilance case.
A committee under administrative secretary with director or head of department as member would take a call on the employee facing such charges well before his retirement for granting extension. The State Government, in 2012, launched the scheme of granting extension of one-year or two years after the age of superannuation of service, that is 58 years.
“The Government has also decided to amend the notification issued on October 8, 2012, and instructions issued on January 22, 2013, to ensure that the tainted employees are not granted extension in service after 58 year of age,” said the spokesperson.
