No Modi wave, just media hype: Virbhadra

Claiming that there is no “Modi wave” in Himachal Pradesh, the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that there is nothing like any wave for any particular party and UPA Government and his State Government performance will matter in the ensuing lok Sabha polls.

“This election is for Central Government but the State Government’s performance in past one year will also matter in the polls,” said Virbhadra Singh at his official residence Oakover before leaving the city for campaigning in favour of Congress candidates.

“There is no anti-Congress undercurrent in the State and Opposition BJP is not that strong,” said Singh while adding that BJP can’t raise the issue of corruption, when it itself is epitome of corruption and were instrumental in birth and spread of this menace in the State. He also targeted former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal for his recent remarks that Central Government will be changed in next two months and State Government has also got the life of only two months.

“This shows the mentality of Dhumal that he does not believe in Constitution of the country. Every democratically elected Government or institution has a fixed set of tenure according to theconstitution of the country,” he added.“Dhumal is a day dreamer,” said Singh, while adding that state of affairs in BJP does not seems good and the party is in shambles at the top level which is not good for the country. He attacked BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi saying that there is no Modi wave but only media hype.

“Money power is being used to shape public opinion. You switch the TV on in the morning and find Modi grabbing headlines; switch the TV on at night before bed, it is Modi on again,” said Singh.“Some people could be fooled for sometime but not for every time and BJP is yet to accept this fact,” he added. Chief Minister said that Modi’s rally in Himachal Pradesh was also exaggerated by media and people from neighbhouring States were called whereas the bigger rally was held that of Congress’ vice-president Rahul Gandhi at Dharamshala. Virbhadra also added that he is not in favour of more such rallies as it consumes more time and are not that influential in terms of election. “local leaders and MlAs have been asked to campaign aggressively in favour of candidates of the party,” he said.

He also counted out the achievements of his Government and UPA Government and said that future of the country is secured in the hands of Congress only. “We will win all the four parliamentary seats in the State and next Government in the country will be again of UPA,”he added.
