Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday said that there would be hardly any impact of former MP Navjot Singh Sidhu leaving his party, the BJP.
Without taking Sidhu’s name, Badal said that the wise people of the state never forgive the opportunist and treacherous political leaders who ditch their mother party for the sake of short-term benefits.
Interacting with media persons on the sidelines of his Sangat Darshan program in Mehal Kalan assembly segment, Badal said that the leaders without any principles could never succeed in the politics as the Punjabis have strong disliking for them.
“One should be loyal to his party and its policies…The person who does not stand by his party is bound to go to oblivion,” asserted Badal. His assertions came a day after cricketer-turned-politician took everyone by surprise by calling it quits as Rajya Sabha MP and also as BJP member.
“There would be hardly any impact of former MP Navjot Singh Sidhu leaving the BJP,” said Badal while adding that he has not yet received the resignation of Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu.
Dr Navjot, Sidhu’s MlA wife, has made it clear that his husband has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party, and she has not and would continue as CPS in the SAD-BJP Government in Punjab.
Badal, responding to another query, said that there was no competitor of SAD-BJP alliance for the ensuing electoral battle. “Owing to its pro-people and growth-oriented policies, the alliance would score a spectacular win in the coming assembly polls,” he said.
Slamming the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress for defaming the state, the Chief Minister said that both these anti-Punjab forces were tarnishing the image of state by labeling the hard working and resilient Punjabis as drug addicts.
Badal said that earlier the Congress labeled the Punjabis as terrorists and now both these parties were branding Punjabis as drug addicts.
