Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu on Friday said the issue to hike water tariff is still under the consideration of the State Government as no final decision in this regard has so far been taken.
Two days back, the State Government had proposed revision of water tariff in both urban and rural areas of the State.
While the rates would be doubled for rural areas, the increase in tariff of urban areas was proposed to be four times.
While a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar lal had on Wednesday decided to hike water tariff in the State, the proposal would now be tabled for final approval in the Cabinet meeting to be held on January 31.
The Finance Minister, who was interacting with mediapersons in Sirsa on Friday said while the Public Health Engineering Department pays `800 crore towards electricity bills to supply water to the people, only `60 crore to `65 crore are recovered as payment of water bills in the state, which is not healthy for any economy.
