No end to SAD, BJP 'credit' war for changes in land use rules

Terming the war of ‘credit’ between the SAD and BJP leaders over the decision of exempting hotels and hospitals from the change-of-land-use (ClU) charges as “uncalled for”, Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha president Mohit Gupta on Friday applauded BJP Minister Anil Joshi for the same.

Gupta said that if Sukhbir-Kalia Committee had decided in 2009 to give relaxation in ClU, then “now it is Anil Joshi who has implemented the same for which he deserves appreciation”.

Expressing Joshi’s gratitude, Gupta advised SAD leaders that instead of indulging in tug of war with the BJP, they should work for bringing new schemes for the welfare of the Punjab and should also take advantage of the NDA Government constituted under the headship of PM Narendra Modi.

Striking a balance, Gupta said that overall credit will, in any case, go to the Punjab Government which is a coalition of Akali-BJP. “It is a matter of great pride that a Government which is concerned with Punjab has taken over the reins at the Centre… Now the best thing for the coalition leaders is to make sure that Punjab gets maximum benefit from the Union Government in terms of the policies for the progress of the state,” he said.

Welcoming the exemption of ClU charges for hotel and hospitals, BJYM chief said that it would provide respite to people and would also help in bringing out people associated with hotel industry and health out of the recession.
