Haryana Government would implement “no bags and no books” initiative for Class 1 students in Government schools of the State.
A pilot project regarding “no bags and no books” initiative will be implemented in around 110 Government schools of Haryana.
“Five schools have been selected in each district to begin the initiative where the Class 1 students won’t have to carry books and bags to the schools. The pilot project will begin from this academic session,” said PK Das, Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, School Education, while talking to mediapersons after the 44th meeting of executive committee for Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan here on Friday.
He said the initiative was a part of the State Government’s ambitious programme of turning Government schools into centres of joyful learning. After the success of this initiative in these selected schools, it would be implemented in the entire State for Class I student, said Das.
Directions were issued to the ADCs of all districts to make adequate arrangements in the classes for the implementation of “no bags and no books” initiative, he added.
He said the Department was committed towards fostering stress-free and joyful atmosphere in schools so that students might develop further interest in studies.
Earlier, the State Government had observed bag-free joyful Saturday in schools in the State, which had received overwhelming response. Such programmes not only strengthen teacher-student relationship, but also make the learning atmosphere stress-free, he added.
