A 33-year-old nurse, who treated ‘Nirbhaya’ — the Delhi gang-rape victim, has alleged gang-rape by four persons at Budhlada in Mansa district of Punjab. She has also alleged that the four accused kept her in illegal confinement after gang-rape.
Two, out of the four persons booked under sections 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, have been arrested while two others were still at large.
The culprits identified as Rajbir Singh and lakhwinder Singh alias lucky, both in their mid-20s and locals, were arrested based on a complaint filed by the nurse on Tuesday, said Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh Khatra. According to the complaint, the woman was gang-raped, kept in illegal confinement and was robbed in Gurne village near Budhladha town on Monday.
However, the woman refused to undergo medical examination and did not make any statement before the judicial magistrate which is mandatory in rape cases, the SSP said, adding that she has also locked her mobile phone with a password and is not willing to tell her address.
According to the SSP, the woman claimed that she was working as a nurse in Safdarjung hospital in the national capital. The woman had come to Budhladha town along with one Davinder Kaur of village Hasanpur. When she alighted at Budhlada Railway Station, Davinder's brother-in-law, Rajbir allegedly took her to a village tube-well shed on a scooter, police said. The woman in her complaint also alleged that there were three other girls besides two youths and a 65-year-old man at the shed.
She was gang-raped by four persons, and was dumped near Budhlada Railway Station next day, the complaint said. Police is investigating the matter. In an irony of sorts, the victim happens to be a Delhi based-nurse who was part of the team of doctors who treated 23-year-old trainee physiotherapist, who was brutally gang-raped inside a moving bus in the national capital by six people on December 16, 2012.
