Haryana Government has offered a New Year gift to the residents of 173 villages of the State as they will be provided 24-hour power supply from January 1, 2017. The benefit will be given to 32 feeders of the Uttar and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigams where line losses have dipped below 20 per cent.

An official spokesman of power utilities said that Panchkula had bagged the honours of becoming the first district of the state to get 24-hour power supply in cities as well as in villages from January 1, 2017.

"This is a concrete step towards realising the vision of the Chief Minister, Manohar lal, to provide round-the-clock power supply in the entire state," the spokesman added.

The department had set for itself the target of providing 24-hour power supply to the entire state in the near future. The power utilities have appealed to all consumers to pay their electricity bills on time, and not to indulge in activities like power theft, the spokesman added.
