Dubbing the newly-launched SAD (Taksali) as a pawn of the Congress party, SAD on Sunday said that it had been formed at the instance of the Congress which wanted a front for contesting the SGPC elections.
Former minister and SAD spokesperson Daljeet Singh Cheema, describing new outfit as “Congress B-Team and Sons party”, said that Ranjit Singh “Brahmpura and his two partners have sold themselves to the Congress and assured it that they will deliver the SGPC to Indira Gandhi’s party”.
Cheema said that the Sikh Sangat will never tolerate this as they have always rejected Congress’ attempts to weaken the SAD and the Sikh panth by propping up stooges. “The fate of the new outfit will not be any different. The outfit leaders will come to know their real position when they hold their next programme outside Sri Darbar Sahib,” he said.
The party castigated the expelled leaders “for misusing the presence of thousands of devotees collected at Darbar Sahib on the occasion of ‘sangrand’ as a show of strength for their ‘fathers and sons’ outfit.
“The trio of Brahmpura, Sewa Singh Sekhwan and Rattan Singh Ajnala committed a ‘ghor paap’ (grave sin) by giving the impression that thousands of devotees, who had flocked to Darbar Sahib on the occasion of ‘Sangrand’, were their supporters and had come out to support them today,” he said.
Cheema said that it was also a fact that “today is Sunday and there is a two fold increase in footfall at Darbar Sahib on such occasions. In light of these facts, releasing pictures which seek to misappropriate the support to devotees in this cheap manner proves nothing is sacred for this rag-tag group”.
He said that it was even more unfortunate that all this was being done deliberately. “The failed and rejected trio had first announced that they would launch their new party on December 14, the SAD’s foundation day. However, the date was changed abruptly to December 16 without any specific reason. Now, it is clear that the trio, who were rejected by the ‘sangat’ after being expelled from the SAD, devised this scheme to give the impression that it had the backing of the panth,” he said.
Cheema said today’s supposed launch function was itself a damp squib with no one joining the expelled Akali trio as there were lots of announcements that prominent leaders will join the new outfit today “but these claims have fallen flat”.
