Nephew comes up in defence of Rail Minister

While Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has kept mum for the past five days over the Railway Board bribery scandal, his nephew (brother's son) Vikram Bansal has come forth to counter the allegations of BJP.

Vikram on Tuesday said, “BJP leader Satya Pal Jain excels in distorting and playing with facts even if it results in a ludicrous situation.

A senior lawyer, he is unaware of the distinction between a functional director with equity participation and an Independent Director who statutorily cannot have any pecuniary interest in the company.

And, as a desperately overambitious politician, he cares little about being truthful.”

BJP leader Satya Pal Jain had claimed that Bansal and his relatives have common business ventures and are minting money wrongly. BJP on Sunday had produced documents revealing details including directors, shareholders of various companies floated by Bansal relatives.

On the allegations, Vikram said, “I am a Director in the company, JTl Infra promoted by Vijay Singla and others. Vijay Singla is my cousin and I accepted the offer of independent director.

“Why has Jain not been able to point out any financial partnerships between usIJ  I being the son of the elder brother of Pawan Kumar Bansal does not establish business relationships between my uncle’s family and Vijay Singla on the mere basis of my being an independent director of JTl Infra.”

Vikram further added that Bansi Raunaq Energy Group was floated by sons of two brothers – my father and my uncle Pawan Kumar Bansal.

He said Vijay Singla or his family are not part of it. This company could not start operations and has done nil business.

“As regards the address 64, Sector 28-A, Chandigarh, Jain conveniently ignores a fact known to him that this house is jointly owned by my uncle Pawan Kumar Bansal and my mother, Reshma Bansal,” he added.
