Reacting to the Congress charge of vendetta in National Herald case, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said it was not a case of vendetta, and the Congress need to understand that “neither their Queen nor the Yuvraj are above law”.
“The Constitution of India provides equal rights to all the people living in the country and all have equal responsibilities and legal bindings as well. It is strange that people who were making big statements about the sanctity of the Constitution are today trying to subvert the course of law,” said BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh.
If Sonia Gandhi and Rahul have any respect for the Constitution and the judiciary of the country, they should face the law and let Parliament function as several bills crucial for the development and future of the country and its people are awaiting approval, he said.
Chugh alleged that the Congress being uncertain of the fate of their leaders in a battle where they seem to on the wrong side of law are reacting and making wild allegations on the BJP and the government to make it a political issue by terming it as vendetta.
Alleging a scam of nearly `2,000 crore, Chugh said that Sonia and Rahul own 38 per cent shares each in Young India while Congress leaders Moti lal Vora and Oscar Fernandes own the rest. Chugh also alleged that Hawala dealings were also expected in this scam. “This is done to usurp `1,600 crore building of Herald House situated at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in the capital. The Government is nowhere in the picture and judiciary would certainly do justice but for that Sonia and Rahul need the courage and patience to face the law,” he added.
He said that the top Congress leaders were trapped in a trap they had themselves laid by transferring the tax-free income of a political party to a real estate company. “Neither ED nor any other department of the government has initiated any action as such with regard to these controversial transactions,” he said.
