A research study report by Panjab University Chandigarh and TCY online has recommended a ‘review’ of the Government’s Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) scheme.
The report, ‘The Impact of CCE on Student Proficiency’ was formally released in the PU campus by Prof. H. Devraj, UGC Vice-Chairman, and Prof. Arun Grover, PU Vice-Chancellor.
The report, jointly prepared by a team of PU researchers comprising Harish Kumar, Parneet Kaur and Jatinder Grover and professionals from TCYonline, an edtech company, covers the quantitative and verbal skills of school students spanning over a decade.
‘PU-TCY learning Index’, which will be calculated periodically, has also been introduced which quantifies the skills of students. The report emphasises on the review of implementation of CCE scheme for effective results as there is a ‘decrease’ in the learning of students.
The UGC Vice-Chairman appreciated the efforts of PU’s Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE) as well as the university as a whole for carrying out a study to assess the skills of students and the effect of CCE on their learning. He hoped that the centre will further work on enhancement of the skills of the students.
TCY online CEO Kamal Wadhera offered the Data Science Expertise of TCYonline to carry out such studies by academia which would help transform the way in which educational interventions are held and understood in the nation.
