Navjot Sidhu blames Centre for tarnishing image of Punjabi farmers

Blaming the Central Government for allegedly tarnishing the image of Punjabi farmers, the cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday accused the BJP-led NDA Government of finding excuses for recommending the President’s rule in the State.

Taking to the micro blogging website, Twitter, Sidhu on Sunday claimed that there was no law and order situation in the State.

Instead, he advised the Central Government to focus on the plights of the farmers who were dying on several borders of Delhi. At the same time, he also held the Central Government responsible for allegedly tarnishing the image of Punjabi and scuttling the democratic voices.

Sidhu, who started his political innings with the saffron party, was once considered a close confident of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but has now turned a strong political adversary.

Leveling a serious allegation, he alleged that the Central Government was projecting Punjabis as “anti-national” to safeguard Reliance’s business interests and create grounds for the President’s rule.

Congress MLA from Amritsar East, Sidhu has been staying from active politics and maintaining distance with the media, following his exit from the Cabinet. However, he initiated a one-way communication through his Youtube channel ‘Jittega Punjab’ and has also been sharing his views and concerns on Twitter, especially on the farmers’ agitation against farm acts.

Recently, Sidhu had tweeted that the three agri laws were designed to hand over the agriculture sector to two corporate houses to extend their monopoly over India’s economy.
