Heralding a new dawn in Punjab in terms of skill development and professional education, Nanhi Chhaan Rural Skill Development Centre for girls was inaugurated on Sunday in Salani village with the assistance of Indus Edu Train company.
“The Centre would train girls in professional stream of Beauty and Wellness with sub-courses of senior makeup artist and hair therapist,” said the State Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal addressing a gathering.
Sukhbir said the girls passing out from the four-month course would be awarded certificates by the academy of renowned hair stylist Jawed Habib. Today, 200 such centers have begun throughout the state, he added.
“I visualise opening of one such centre in every block which afterwards would come around to one centre after a cluster of every 10 villages. I strongly hope that these centres would be instrumental in creating self-employment avenues for the trainees,” said Sukhbir.
Sukhbir, thanking the Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy for giving push to the efforts of the SAD-BJP Government to make Punjab a model state in the skill development sector, re-iterated that Punjab would write new success stories in this sphere.
He also elaborated that 1,000 more such centers are likely to be sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. He informed that special emphasis would also be laid on training youth of the state in job-oriented courses such as mechanic, electrician and plumber.
Union Minister Rudy appreciated the State Government efforts in making State’s youth self-sufficient by providing professional and skill education.
Describing Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal as visionaries, Rudy expressed confidence that the Punjabi youth would emerge as the most skilled in the world thanks to such initiatives.
