Chandigarh BJP is all set to serve cups of steaming hot tea to the people in the green belts of City Beautiful. The BJP city unit will embark on ‘NaMo Tea Party’ campaign from February 11, in an attempt to cash in on party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s humble background as a tea vendor.

To garner support of voters from all sections of society ahead of lok Sabha polls, the party members will visit the green belts of Chandigarh to serve tea and organise interactive sessions with the city residents. Given the large number of green belts in the city, the party hopes to reach out to large number of youth, women and senior citizens through a people contact programme which is to be held during morning and evening hours in various green belts for next one week.

Every day, the parks and gardens are thronged by large number of people for morning and evening walks, jogging, yoga, recital of bhajans and kirtans among other activities. The party members would visit these green belts and organise ‘NaMo Tea Party’ to apprise people about the vision of Modi and spread ‘Narendra Modi for PM’ message.  Recently, the party had joined hands with the tea-vendors of Chandigarh to market the ‘Modi for PM’ message across the city. The party had  printed special banners which were put up across the roadside tea-stalls of the city supporting Modi’s candidature for the post of Prime Minister. The photograph of tea-sellers was also displayed along with Modi on the banners.

Besides, another campaign namely ‘Ek Note, Kamal Par Vote, a week long programme will commence from February 11 at all 490 booths in the city. The party members wearing a mask of Modi would go door-to-door and request people to contribute from as low as Rs 10 to a maximum of Rs 1,000 for the party. The party members will carry party flags and also distribute leaflets about Modi to the residents during their campaign.

For ‘Ek Note, Kamal Par Vote’ campaign, the party has  prepared 490 colorful boxes which would be given to committees at booth level to generate funds to meet election expenses of Chandigarh BJP. Talking to mediapersons, Arti Mehra, party’s in-charge for Chandigarh Affairs said, “The party is also set to flash a saffron wave in the city through a week long ‘Ek Note, Kamal Par Vote’ campaign starting from February 11 (Tuesday), marking the death anniversary of founder of Jan Sangh, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhayay.”

She said, “In a bid to reach every house and contact every citizen, the party is targeting all 490 booths. To run the campaign successfully, district presidents, ward presidents and booth in-charges would be involved and they will go to their respective areas with a colourful box, flags and masks of Modi to request to contribute money. A pamphlet elaborating that Narendra Modi is the right choice to lead the nation as Prime Minister, would also be distributed among the citizens.”

This programme is aimed at popularising the message and aims of Narendra Modi.” “The party will reach out to voters from all sections and age groups with this campaign through tea party. The campaigns will be undertaken under the guidance of party leaders of the city,” he added.
