After lavishing praise on Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s PM in-waiting Narendra Modi for being an able administrator, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Virbhadra Singh said that NaMO is only lionised by the media; he is not a bogeyman who would engulf the Congress.
lauding party workers at Congress Bhavan at Shimla during Mandi parliamentary constituency party meeting, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that in the wake of upcoming lok Sabha elections 2014, Congress is facing a challenge countrywide.
In the last meeting of Shimla parliamentary constituency officebearers, Virbhadra had lauded Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for being a better administrator and had said that he was welcome in the State in a personal capacity, not politically.
“I personally respect Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi but media in the country has always created a buzz around him. “He is not a jinn or demon who will engulf the Congress,” said the Chief Minister, appealing party workers to challenge the Modi wave.
“He (Modi) has campaigned twice in the State, once when he was State in-charge of the party and the other, when he was Gujarat Chief Minister but both times, Congress has come to power in the Assembly election,” said Singh.
“There is no need to fear him. He has been lucky for the Congress in the State and this time, the party will win all four parliamentary seats in the State,” said Virbhadra.
Asking party workers to take people-centric schemes to the people, the Chief Minister said that party workers should work to ensure the victory of the party candidate.
In the by-election for Mandi parliamentary seat, Chief Minister’s wife Pratibha Singh had won the election defeating the BJP candidate by a huge margin.
“You should expose the tenure of previous BJP Government in the State and their misdeeds and take on the challenge of propaganda launched by the Opposition effectively,” said the CM.
Virbhadra Singh accepted that the State is ailing financially, but said even neighbouring Punjab is in dire financial straits. He squarely blamed BJP for the financial mess in the State.
“Anticipating successful Mission Repeat, previous BJP Government had made impractical announcements due to which additional financial burden is incurred by the State,” said the Chief Minister.
