A day after Haryana Congress spokesman Vikas Chaudhary was shot dead in Faridabad, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said that the deceased had 13 FIRs against him and anything could be possible with such a person.
The Chief Minister while talking to the mediapersons in Faridabad said, “The murder is unfortunate but we would also have to look at the person's character. There were 13 FIRs registered against the murdered person and some of those cases are under Section 120 (B) and 307 of the IPC. It (the murder) could also have been because of some personal enmity but we are still engaged in conducting the investigation fairly.”
“The incident is horrible and murder should never be supported but the victim's character should also be kept in mind who has been declared as a bad character. This person who had been a spokesperson of a party (Congress), should have been identified by the party,” he added.
Vikas was shot dead by unknown assailants at the car parking of a gym in Faridabad on Thursday. The incident took place around 9 am, when Vikas (42) was parking his car outside the gym.
The whole incident was caught on CCTV camera. Upon hearing the noise, people had rushed to the site and Chaudhary was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
While no culprit has been arrested in the case till the evening, Manohar Lal said that several police teams had been constituted to investigate the case and the guilty will be punished. He also drew comparisons to previous Congress governments which he claimed had protected such culprits.
Earlier in the day, the Congress workers condemned Vikas Chaudhary's murder and demanded justice. They also protested over the delay in the handing over of Vikas’ body by the hospital.
