Haryana Government on Tuesday signed a concession agreement with JBM Environment Management Private limited for development of integrated solid waste management plants in Sonipat Cluster, comprising Sonipat, Panipat, Samalkha and Gannaur.
The JBM Group will build and operate a five-MW power plant in Sonipat which will treat 500 tonnes of municipal waste per day. The agreement was signed in the presence of CM Manohar lal Khattar and the Urban local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain in New Delhi.
To be set up by JBM Group at an investment of Rs 176 crore, the project will entail door-to-door collection of waste, its transportation, construction and operation of the power plant. The plant will be spread across 20 acres in Sonepat for which land has already been allotted by the State Government.
The project will help dispose of 500 tonnes of solid waste per day generated from Sonepat cluster.
Khattar said, “Haryana is moving ahead on its objective of being a flag-bearer of the Swachh Bharat Mission. We are looking at multiple areas like waste-to-energy, integrated solid waste management, e-mobility, etc where we can adopt environment-friendly technologies”.
