The Meteorologi cal Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall across the region in next 72 hours.Earlier, light to moderate rainfall was recorded in some parts of the region during weekend. The monsoon is playing truant across the region resulting in high rainfall deficiency this year.
Also, the people in Chandigarh and neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana continue to suffer due to scorching heat. High temperature levels upto seven notches above normal was recorded on Tuesday in some parts of the region.In Haryana, Hissar braved the blistering heat at maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius, seven notches above normal while Bhiwani recorded a high of 41 degree Celsius.
The holy city of Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 38.5 degree Celsius, four notches above normal. ludhiana and Patiala settled at respective maximum temperature of 36.6 degree Celsius and 36.1 degree Celsius. Chandigarh saw maximum temperature of 35.7 degree.
