The Monsoon Session of the Himachal Pradesh assembly, probably the last session of the present House, will start on August 22. The notification in this regard was issued on Tuesday.
Speaker, Brij Behari lal Butail said the session would be held from Aug 22 to Aug 25 and asked all the members to send their questions online for consideration in the House.
The session is expected to be stormy as the opposition BJP seems to be in a far better and stronger position in the State to take the Government head on. The ruling Congress has suffered one jolt after the other in the previous few months giving an edge to the rival BJP.
BJP had recently burnt effigies of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh seeking his resignation from the post of Chief Minister on moral grounds after the people in general resorted to unprecedented protest against the Government, over the failure of Himachal Pradesh police to probe the Kotkhai gang rape and murder case properly.
The cases against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his family, the Kotkhai gang rape, death of forest guard, recent rape case of a school student by a teacher at Tissa in Chamba, are the issues at hand to provide ammunition to the opposition to launch a volley of fire against the Government in the assembly.
The last regular session, the Budget session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly was convened in March this year, in which the ruling Congress had gained a lot through the populist measures it took in its last budget before the polls.
