The Punjab Vidhan Sabha is expected to meet for its Monsoon session somewhere in the third week of this month. The State Cabinet is scheduled to meet on September 10 to decide on the dates for the same.
Sources indicated that the 11th session of the 14th Punjab Vidhan Sabha session is likely to start on September 17 or 18. Before this, the Vidhan Sabha met for its budget session in March. At the same time, the Punjab Government on Monday issued a couple of instructions to the officers regarding attending the proceedings, submission of legislative business records to Vidhan Sabha, besides others.
The Punjab Government has asked its all officers to remain present in the officers’ gallery during the session. The officers have also been directed to provide relevant material relating to the legislative business to the Ministers concerned during the session, said an official spokesperson.
He said that the officers have to remain present in the Vidhan Sabha especially during the question hour, call attention, presentation of Bills and discussions.
Besides providing the inputs to the Ministers concerned during the session, the Administrative Secretaries have also been asked to note the important information, facts and issues raised in the House so that the Ministers concerned, including the Chief Minister, could be given the correct information on vital issues pertaining to the state which could be incorporated in their subsequent replies.
The same record could be sent for information to the office of the Chief Secretary and Parliamentary Affairs department secretary.
The officers have been asked to ensure strict compliance of the government directives and also make sure that the Ordinance as Bills to be presented for consideration in the House and also sent in an advanced copy to the Chief Secretary for his information.
The Government has also directed all the heads of the departments to submit legislative business records for the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha session.
Besides the legislative business, the officers concerned have also been directed to provide the details of Ordinance to be converted into Bills which would be tabled in the ensuing session of Vidhan Sabha at the earliest.
