BJP’s star campaigner is all set to cost its ally, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), dear.As the NDA’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is going to hold a total of five rallies in favour of SAD-BJP candidates, the expenditure of the same is going to be added in the expenditure accounts of the SAD candidates, while that of BJP will be spared.

Modi will hold five rallies on April 25, Friday, in Pathankot (Gurdaspur constituency), Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, and ludhiana. While the BJP has fielded its candidates from Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur, ludhiana and Bathinda has SAD candidates.

With Modi being star campaigner of the saffron party, the expenditure of his rallies will be added in the account of the Akali candidates appearing in the same. As the campaigning begins, the political parties come up with the list of star campaigners whose entire expenditure including that of holding the rallies was including in the party’s expenditure account, and the candidates in whom favour the rally is organised are exempted.

But, in this case, Modi being BJP’s star campaigner, expenditure incurred in his rallies would be added in the accounts of Harsimrat and Ayali, and any other Akali candidate appearing on stage with him.Modi’s rallies to cost SAD dear

Earlier, Modi was to address four rallies in favour of Harsimrat Kaur Badal in Bathinda, Vinod Khanna in Pathankot, Arun Jaitley in Amritsar, and Vijay Sampla in Hoshiarpur. But, as per revised programme, Modi will also address another rally on the same day in ludhiana in favour of Manpreet Singh Ayali, who is locked in multi-cornered contest, a day after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will address the State’s industrial town.

In another change in his programme schedule, Modi will start his political campaigning from Pathankot, instead of Bathinda. After, he would address second rally in Hoshiarpur, followed by ludhiana, Bathinda and then concluded with Amritsar.
