Shanta Kumar, former Union Minister and two-time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, has hailed the landslide victory of BJP in the country and said that the credit goes to Narendra Modi who has emerged as another iron man from Gujarat.
Kumar, who won from Kangra with a huge margin, said people of Himachal Pradesh had become fans of Modi and it was evident from the fact that all the four seats had gone to Modi who has become the synonym of BJP. Successive Congress Governments had meted out a stepmotherly treatment to the backward hilly State. “We now cherish a new dawn of development in the state which Modi spelled in his rallies in the State,” he hoped.
Kumar won by a margin of 1,70,072 votes, the highest amongst the four candidates of BJP. Anurag Thakur, son of Prem Kumar Dhumal, won with a margin of 98,370 votes. Virender Kashyap from Shimla constituency won with a margin of 84,198 votes while Ram Swarup Sharma of Mandi won with a lead of 39,856 votes.
The octogenarian leader of BJP while talking to The Pioneer expressed happiness over the way Modi went ahead by wiping out his false image projected by the communal elements and detractors to generate panic in the minority community just to get their politics of hatred flourish.
Many times, he said, parties get unexpected number of seats riding on different waves. But in the case of Modi, it was a different case where he himself generated a formidable wave against corruption, mega scams, unemployment, black money deposited in foreign banks and perpetual process of inflation across the country. The wave, turned into a tsunami with Modi’s magnetic personality and inexorable determination to achieve the target he had set for himself for bringing BJP to power in the country breaking the barriers of casts and religion which many selfish politicians in this country had been exploiting to flourish their political shops, said Kumar.
“He is the first politician of this country who has achieved success in demolishing the cast and religion barriers of hate and animosity. The results of 2014 general elections have ushered in a dawn of clean and honest government and taught a bitter lesson to the “political crooks” who had been sacrificing supreme national interests for their narrow political ends”, Shanta Kumar said.
Former Union Minister lamented that the vested interests, including the criminals, scammers and anti-national elements, had joined hands to stall the march of Modi. Even the criminals and convicts had manipulated to come out from jails on parole to negate growing influence and popularity of Modi, he added.
Kumar said the election strategy chalked out by Modi and Amit Shah had done wonders in UP. Mulayam and Maya had to bite the dust. Now, there was a growing panic among the corrupt elements in politics and business who were fearing a crackdown despite the fact that Modi was not vindictive and had assured time and again that due process of law would be allowed to take its own course, he said.
