A day after BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally, senior BJP leader and form Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that the rally had sent death signals to Virbhadra Singh Government.
Dhumal said Modi in his speech covered all the burning issues ailing Himachal Pradesh over the past 67 years when for over five decades Congress ruled the hilly State perpetrating gross injustice to the backward hill State. He made a categorical assurance that if BJP came to power full justice would be done to the people of the State in harnessing the vast potential of tourism, hydel power, railways, forests and roads.
Dhumal said now the literate youths of the State had woken up and realised that the innocent hill people had been cheated by the Congress. They would strongly retaliate against this injustice in the coming general elections of 2014, he warned.
He said Modi was a visionary politician who had spelled out his vision to develop group of hill States, coastal States and desert States by drawing up separate integrated development plans to lift them out of the mire of poverty and usher in prosperity. He said Modi had made it clear that large-scale self-employment ventures would be thrown open to the youths in the private and corporate sectors as Government jobs were limited.
Replying to a question he said, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh ever since he came to power had brought all the development activities to a standstill and was concentrating all his energies against his political opponents and detractors.
He was torturing a saint, Baba Ram Dev, by entertaining a futile hope that Sonia Gandhi would be flattered and salvage him from serious charges of corruption little knowing that his fate had been sealed in an envelope handed over to Delhi High Court by the CBI on February 12, 2014.
