A day after BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally here, party leader and former Minister Jai Ram Thakur claimed that the largest crowd in the living memory of the people, which surged on the sprawling Padal Ground on Tuesday to take part in the rally had demoralised all the rank and file of the Congress party.
“Congress leaders were boasting a day before the rally that the victory of their candidate Pratibha Singh, wife of the Chief Minister, was inevitable. They were mocking at BJP that thousands of chairs placed in the huge arena of the rally in the vast ground would remain empty. But the mammoth rally gave them a shock of their life when they saw the huge crowd that converged at the venue of the rally could not be accommodated at that place and people had to listen to Modi from the adjoining hills and roof-tops,” Thakur told a news conference.
He claimed a strong pro-Modi undercurrent was spreading across Himachal from Una to lahul and BJP was poised to win all the four seats. Obviously, he said, It was a fallout of over two dozen mega scams during UPA rule had sparked off anger and revolt against the Congress.
He said people are totally disillusioned with the corrupt Congress rule and wanted a change. What intrigued the people most was that instead of holding enquiry and punishing the guilty, Congress in some cases, rewarded the alleged scammers and looters by elevating their stature.
