Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, on Tuesday, chose Narendra Modi as a better pick for the post of Prime Minister after the next lok Sabha elections, saying he was far better choice than Rahul Gandhi.
Coming out in support of Narendra Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate, the Yoga Guru said the country needs a man of character and there is no alternative for Modi. However, he maintained that his fight is against corruption and any leader supporting him in his mission will gain his support.
Referring to the Congress, who is trying to rake up the secularism card, Ramdev said, “Congress is not entitled to give certificate of secularism to anybody. Modi is a secular and progressive leader and he has developed Gujarat, including areas belonging to the minorities, without any bias and personal motif unlike Congress.”
lashing out at the Congress for converting the debate on the secular-communal plank, he said that history speaks for itself and Hindus are secular by nature. But in the contemporary society, a few pseudo-intellectual people have created hegemony, that anyone who calls himself a Hindu is not secular which in turn is a very dangerous trend.
However, the Baba made it clear that it is Modi not BJP that he is supporting. “Modi has credibility but BJP still needs to clean a lot of muck within the party. My support is for Modi because I don’t stand for or against any individual,” said Ramdev.
He added, “I am behind Modi because of his untainted record as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. A man of his character can only bring back the black money stacked in foreign banks and end this era of corruption which has been initiated by the Nehru Gandhi family”.
Talking on the issue of corruption, Ramdev said that in China when the Railway Minister is found guilty of corruption his property is seized and death penalty is pronounced. But in our country when a Railway Minister indulges in a bribery case, he is made a witness and without proper investigations, he is given a clean chit.
On the Ram temple as an election issue, Baba said, “Ram is the symbol of national pride and honor and there should be no debate on construction of his temple and it shouldn’t be sold as an election issue because there are other issues of greater importance which needs immediate attention to pull India out of its ailing State.”
Coming down heavily on FDI, he said, “This is a new way of selling the country to foreign forces and if something is not done immediately India will become bankrupt and country’s economic condition will suffer a severe jolt.”
