launching a scathing attack on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Union Minister Anand Sharma on Saturday said that Modi is arrogant and making false promises to grab power.
“Modi does not even want to answer the questions raised. BJP is a party, which has projected one man above party, society and country and bringing Modi at the forefront portrayed the bankruptcy of the BJP,” said Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Anand Sharma while addressing a Press conference in Chandigarh.
Sharma said that Modi has already sidelined BJP’s top leaders like lK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalraj Mishra and Jaswant Singh.Commenting on the slogan coined by Modi supporters, Sharma said that his slogan Har Har Modi was against the spirit of the religion.
“The Opposition has yet not been able to draft their manifesto. The claims being made by them are part of the policies, which had been approved and either had been implemented or were under implementation. The BJP has no vision whereas the UPA had increased the number of IIMs and IITs. The number of NIFD had increased from one to five. Other institutions were also coming up including several in Haryana and Punjab,” said Sharma.
Talking about the campaign of the BJP, Sharma said that BJP is spending 50 times more on media publicity than the Congress. The huge and misleading advertisements are only attempting to make a false propaganda against the UPA.
“The BJP is indulging in a false propaganda and unlike their claim, Indian economy was robust and country had made progress during the recent past,” claimed Sharma.
The Union Minister said that economy is not only strong but is also in right hands. During the past 10 years, the trade had increased five times. The Foreign Direct Investment had also increased 15 times from less than 20 billion US$ to over 300 billion US$. During the period, per capita income had increased from Rs 24000 to Rs 69000.
