Punjab Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister Madan Mohan Mittal on Monday reviewed the performance of past five years of the International Resource Centre  for Universal Human Values (IRCUHV) of PTU in a meeting at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University Mohali campus.

During the inspection, the Minister said that in spite of the rapid advancements made in education and scientific sphere, human values have seen a sharp decline which is a cause for concern. He said that no society can progress without keeping its social and moral value structure intact.

The Minister further said that PTU is rendering a yeoman’s service to humanity by including human values in its curriculum.

“The Supreme Court has also stressed upon the need to educate children about humanitarian values and professional moral education along with other subjects of study…The subject of humanitarian studies demands serious attention and laying stress on it would bring about positive mentality in all sections of society,” he said.

He also said the skill development infrastructure is being upgraded in the State by opening skill development centres so that the youth of the state could become technically skilled.
