After coming to power in the State nearly a month back, the Manohar lal Khattar Government on Tuesday took a series of steps which are expected to bolster administration, check corruption, bring revenues to State coffers and discipline in the administration.

The Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar here revised the rate of Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel from 9.24 per cent to 12.07 per cent. Even after increase, it would be less as compared to neighbouring States of Punjab, Delhi, Rajashtan and Uttar Pradesh. After the increase in VAT, the retail sale price of diesel with revised tax rate would be Rs53.19 per litre.

Due to decrease in retail price of diesel, the State is losing about 47 paise per litre since October 1, which comes to about Rs23.50 crore per month. To compensate this recurring loss, the State has approved hike in VAT as per which additional revenue of about Rs737 crore per year would be generated.

Toll points at six locations closed The Cabinet decided to close down toll points at six locations as Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has declared these as National Highways.

These are TP-1 on Gurgaon-Sohna road at Km 11 (near Badshahpur), TP-6 on Bahadurgarh-Jhajjar-Dadri-loharu-Pilani road at RD 166 (near Rajasthan border), TP-9 on Sardulgarh-Sirsa road (near Punjab border), TP-14 on UP Border-Sonepat-Gohana Road (near UP border), TP-16 on Sohana–Nuh-Ferozpur Zhirkha-Alwar Road (near Rajasthan Border) and TP-19 on Narnaul-Singhana Road (near Rajasthan Border).

After the closure of toll points on these highways no toll would be levied on any mechanical vehicle crossing or using any toll facility on the Highways recently declared as National highways by Ministry of Roads Transport and Highways. After removing these six toll barriers, state exchequer will lose around Rs52 crore per year, added Khattar.

Transparency in Recruitments

The Cabinet decided to keep all 605 vacant posts of technical staff of state electricity corporations out from State Public Service commission and now these would be recruited through Power Grid Corporation with written test and 10 percent interview marks would be added in it.  State government is also awaiting the report regarding recruitment of 55 HCS officers’ through State Public Service Commission.  Action would be taken after the report, said Khattar.
