Min demands Gurgaon Development Authority

A Haryana Minister on Wednesday demanded constitution of a separate Gurgaon Development Authority on the pattern of Delhi Development Authority and Greater Noida Development Authority.

Haryana Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh said that keeping in view the rapid urbanisation in the National Capital Region (NCR), especially Gurgaon, there is a need to constitute a separate Gurgaon Development Authority on the pattern of Delhi Development Authority and Greater Noida Development Authority.

He said that Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), which is responsible for all sectors of all cities in the state, is unable to properly maintain the sectors of Gurgaon.

More than 250 units of renowned multi-national companies are operating and more than 120 sectors of HUDA have been formed in Gurgaon. Apart from this, the number of sectors in Faridabad and other cities included in the NCR has also increased significantly, said the Minister.

He has also raised the demand to include Gurgaon in the smart city project at the earliest. The Minister said that being a model of development, Gurgaon is also a strong contender for inclusion under the project. He informed that he had earlier written to Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Chief Minister Manohar lal regarding inclusion of Gurgaon among smart cities. The Union Urban Development Ministry was in favour of including Gurgaon under the smart city project subject to certain conditions, he added.
